BASE DIRECT?
BASE Direct are a UK awning manufacturer based in Walsall, West Midlands. They supply residential and commercial awnings to homeowners, trade partners and businesses across the country — all built to order at their own facility.
We stock their range because the product holds up. Solid construction, proper fabric choices, and motors that work — which matters more on an awning than it might sound when you're relying on it through a British summer.
Their range covers everything from compact cassette awnings for smaller patios to large commercial installations for cafés and retail fronts. If you need an awning, there's a BASE model that fits the job.

Most awnings sold in the UK are manufactured overseas and imported. BASE Direct make theirs in Walsall. That means shorter lead times, easier access to parts, and a manufacturer you can actually talk to if something needs sorting.
The fabric is Dickson. It's the premium choice in the awning industry — fade-resistant, UV-protective, waterproof. Not every awning supplier uses it. BASE Direct do across the range.
Motorisation is available through Somfy and Simu — the two most widely used systems in the market. Both integrate with smart home setups and can be controlled by remote, wind sensor or sun sensor.

Manual operation is fine. Motorised is better. BASE Direct's awnings are compatible with Somfy and Simu motor systems — the industry standard for retractable awnings.
You can control your awning by handheld remote, wall switch or smartphone. Add a wind sensor and it retracts automatically in bad weather. Add a sun sensor and it extends when the sun hits the right angle.
Both systems are compatible with major smart home platforms. Discuss motorisation options when you book your survey and we'll specify the right setup for your installation.
